2014 FIFA World Cup - Day 3 Matches Results - ITALY VS ENGLAND

This is the view of Arena Amazonia at Manaus and this is where the 3 match of the day will happened. A fight between Italy and England.

After an incredible day of football so far, with seven goals in two matches already, England and Italy are almost ready in Manaus.

Below are your teams line-up:

These are the most-popular line-ups chosen by FIFA.com users:

The players take to the field and God Save the Queen rings around the Arena Amazonia, with the Three Lions players passionately singing along.

Next it's the turn of Gli Azzurri and as 'Il Canto degli Italiani' reverberates around the stadium, the Italians clutch each other by the shoulders and join their supporters in song.

Mario Balotelli passes to Claudio Marchisio as Italy get us underway.

Johnson goes in high on Giorgio Chiellini early on and referee Bjorn Kuipers blows his whistle to halt play.

The Liverpool winger gets the ball just in the Italian half, turns and runs at the Italian defence before smashing the ball from a good 35 yards at Sirigu's goal. The ball ripples the side netting on its way wide.

Henderson pounces on a loose ball on the edge of the Italian box and hammers a first-time shot at goal, but the Paris Saint-Germain keeper is equal to it.

DID YOU KNOW?
England are unbeaten when Gary Cahill and Phil Jagielka have played (W7-D5), and have kept five clean sheets in their last six matches together, conceding only one goal in total.

Paletta doesn't get the ball out of his feet correctly and his clearance falls to the Manchester United man, who somewhat scuffs his shot wide of the mark.

Glen Johnson cuts in from the right side and hits a hopeful shot towards goal, but it's well wide.

Italy's Andrea Pirlo (35 years, 26 days) is the oldest player in the starting line-ups while England's Raheem Sterling (19 years, 6 months) is the youngest. That is a staggering 15 years, 2 months and 24 days between the Italian veteran and English youngster.

Antonio Candreva smashes a shot from distance which dips just in front of the Manchester City keeper. The ball rebounds off his chest and the England No1 breathes a sigh of relief as it falls safely to a white shirt.

Welbeck touches the ball past Paletta and passes in towards Sterling in the centre of the penalty area. Barzagli slides in and deflects the ball, which loops up and over the approaching Sterling. Out for a corner, which is forced behind again.

Sirigu comes out to claim the ball, and gathers at the second attempt.

The Lazio man gets the ball out from under his feet and hits towards goal, but it doesn't trouble Joe Hart as it flies well wide.

Gerrard whips the set-piece in to the Italian box, but Sirigu gathers with ease.

Superb effort by Marchisio. The short corner by is stepped over by Pirlo and the Juve midfielder hammers home from 20 yards.

Sturridge! Wonderful play by Rooney on the left-hand side as he breaks free of the Italian defence and picks the Liverpool forward out at the back post. England's No9 follows in and is left with a simple right-footed finish past Sirigu. All square!

The Azzurri No4 cuts inside and bursts through the England midfield before hitting a speculative effort with his left foot from distance. It's over the bar.

Pirlo plays a beautiful chipped ball in behind the English defence and Balotelli is one-on-one with Joe Hart. He checks his run and chips over the Manchester City goalkeeper, but Phil Jagielka heads clear!

Candreva is picked out by Pirlo, cuts inside onto his favoured right foot and hammers a shot at goal. He's denied by the woodwork.

The whistle sounds and it's been an intriguing first half. Marchisio's superb strike opened the scoring before Rooney picked out Sturridge for an instant reply. Candreva hit the post late on, but it remains all square.

We're back underway in Manaus, and it looks as though Wayne Rooney has swapped sides with Danny Welbeck at the start of this second half, taking up a role on England's right.

Sturridge bursts clear of a back-tracking De Rossi, and hits towards goal, but the Paris Saint-Germain pushes the ball away.

Balotelli! Candreva cuts inside on to his left foot and crosses to the back post where the AC Milan forward has peeled off. He heads powerfully towards goal and Joe Hart can't keep it out. 2-1 to the Azzurri!

England's No10 tries to hold off De Rossi and creates half a yard of space to get a shot away, but the ball flies wide of Sirigu's right-hand post.

It's surely an emotional moment for Italy's No5, who comes on to play a World Cup game in the country of his birth.

The Liverpool man gets the ball out of his feet and isn't really closed down, but his left-footed effort is wide of the mark.

Baines receives the ball on the edge of the Italian box and shapes to shoot. He instead plays a clever ball through to Rooney, who cuts inside and steadies himself before firing just wide.

Henderson sets Barkley free on the England left as they counter after Darmian's effort is blocked. The recently-introduced Everton man cuts inside onto his favoured right foot, but his side-footed effort is palmed away by Sirigu.

DID YOU KNOW?
Since their World Cup winning campaign in 1966, only two English players wearing shirt No9 have scored World Cup goals: Shearer (1998), and now Sturridge (2014).

Johnson tries to play Sterling in behind the Italian defence but Paletta clears. The Everton full-back whips the ball in and Gary Cahill's flick-on is dealt with by Italy's No20.

The second corner finds its way to the full-back who opens his body and strikes from around 35 yards with his left foot. It doesn't trouble Sirigu.

Sturridge turns Chiellini close to the edge of the area Leighton Baines is placing the ball to have an effort.

The Everton full-back whips the set-piece round the wall towards goal, but Sirigu is down low to his left-hand side and pushes it away.

ROONEY - England's No10 skews the ball behind for a goal-kick.

Lallana receives the ball on the half turn and the Roma man clatters into him. Rooney and Gerrard are both spotting this one up to hit towards goal.

Gerrard steps up and curls the free-kick over the bar.

Barkley steps up a gear and advances towards the Italy penalty area. Rooney takes over, touches the ball out of his feet and fires his left-footed effort over the bar.

Sterling runs at the Italian defence, turns inside and fires towards goal. Paletta scoops the ball behind for a corner.

The England skipper's set-piece is cleared away by the Italian defence.

The Liverpool winger sprints back to stop Parolo getting in behind the England defence, but he brings down Italy's No18 and is cautioned.

Pirlo steps up and hits the free-kick from a full 35 yards, bending the ball away from a static Joe Hart. The Juve man sees his effort rebound back off the woodwork.

It's all over in Manaus and Italy have seen off England in an enthralling clash in the Arena Amazonia. Marchisio's thunderous effort was immediately cancelled out by Sturridge, before Balotelli sealed the win with a second-half header.

2014 FIFA World Cup - Day 3 Matches Results - URUGUAY VS COSTA RICA

The Estadio Castelao has quieted down a little since kick-off as a result of few chances for either side. So far it's been an evenly matched affair, despite Uruguay edging Los Ticos in possession.

Uruguay celebrate emphatically after Cavani's penalty, much to the delight of the South American supporters in the Estadio Castelao.

Los Ticos have been putting in some hard challenges on their South American opponents, sticking to their hard-nosed style of play they're well known for throughout CONCACAF. The first half was not for the Costa Rica but let us see if this will pump up the fight.

First half statistics looking good for Uruguay and Costa Rica is going try equalizing this on the second half.

Second half started and not too long CAMPBELL J. - Costa Rica's No9 shows some great composure to collect the ball and fire into the far corner, leaving Muslera no chance. Great finish from the Arsenal striker and he follows it up with an even better celebration! Also at 21 years, 11 months and 19 days old, Joel Campbell is the youngest player to score at Brazil 2014 so far. This gives Costa Rica the equalizer.

Costa Rica score twice in a matter of minutes to take the lead! Los Ticos' No6 – DUARTE O. always had a step on Stuani and scored with a wonderful diving header at the back post, firing across the face of goal past Muslera's outstretched arms.

DID YOU KNOW? Costa Rica scoring in the 54th and 57th minute are their fastest ever consecutive goals at a World Cup. On 4 June 2002 they scored in the 61st and 65th minute versus China.

UREÑA M. Costa Rica's No21 adds a third for the Central Americans after picking up on a great through ball from Campbell. The Kuban Krasnodar striker calmly passes past Muslera and that will surely give Los Ticos three points.

Full time statistics of the Uruguay VS Costa Rica.

Costa Rica completed their comeback after going down 1-0 thanks to great goals from Campbell, Duarte and Urena. Uruguay's disappointment was compounded by Pereira's sending off in the final seconds of the match. This unexpected result makes Group D all the more intriguing.

2014 FIFA World Cup - Day 3 Matches Results - COLOMBIA VS GREECE

I was on rest days for the past 2 days and celebrated father's day with my nephews and niece and my sisters and my brother-in-law. It was a fun weekend though even I have not watched the matches for Day 3 of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. I feel terrible not giving you updates on the past 7 games of 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Without further ado, below are the results of the matches:

Colombia won over Greece by 3-0 on Group C's first match and the starter's match of 2014 FIFA World Cup's 3rd day.

On the first half, P. ARMERO Colombia's No7 got on the end of the cross and his shot took a deceiving deflection leaving Greek goalkeeper Orstis Karnezis too much trouble. This number was not equalized as the defense were both great for this 2 teams.
Teo's shot giving Colombia the lead on the second half of the game.
Second half made it worst for Greece as TEO - Colombia's No9 found the back of the net off a deflected corner and was on the doorstep to tap it in. This made a great lead but James No10 made it three for Los Cafeteros! Rodriguez tucks the ball into the corner past a helpless Karnezis. This made James, Man of the Match!

Following are the statics of the fight between Colombia and Greece:

First half statistics.

Second half statistics and the full time result of the game.
